Former Topps and TV Guide Net exec to run unit house Fuse, regional sports cablers

MSG Taps Ryan O'Hara Oversee Media

Madison Square Garden Co. has tapped TV biz vet Ryan O’Hara as president of content, distribution and sales.

O’Hara will oversee the MSG Media division, as well as technology and marketing operations. Those operations include two regional sports networks and the Fuse music cabler.

“As we continue to seek ways to strengthen our legendary brands and pursue strategic growth opportunities that expand our business, it is critical that we have the strongest and most experienced management team in place,” said Hank Ratner, MSG prexy-CEO. O’Hara “will bring decades of leadership and management expertise to enhance the effectiveness and alignment of our operations, resulting in even greater success and growth for the Madison Square Garden Company.”

O’Hara was most recently CEO of Topps Co., the baseball card and bubble gum company owned by Michael Eisner’s Tornante. Before that he ran the TV Gude Network cabler.

“My experience in media, sports and consumer products gives me a unique perspective on how to maximize assets and pursue strategic growth, and I’m looking forward to working with the well-respected management team and employees across MSG to help lead the company into its next celebrated chapter,” O’Hara said.
