Viewership of ABC’s new series “Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD” has soared above the 20-million viewer mark, according to the network.
After bowing with 12.1 million viewers in Nielsen’s “live plus same-day” estimates, “SHIELD” gained about 3.7 million viewers via DVR time-shifting and video-on-demand from Wednesday through Friday. An on-air repeat Thursday night added 4.7 million, and roughly 1.6 million watched online, including Hulu — bringing the show’s total through Sunday to roughly 22.1 million.
According to ABC, “Agents of SHIELD” is the network’s most popular premiere to date in the five-day streaming window.
“SHIELD” finished premiere week as the No. 1 new program in 18-49. Last Tuesday’s premiere earned a big 4.7 rating, which swelled to 6.5 with just three days of DVR playback and VOD.
