Lifetime orders ‘Witches of East End’

Series stars Julia Ormond, will debut later this year

Lifetime has ordered 10 episodes of drama series “Witches of East End,” starring Julia Ormond.

Series, from Fox 21, will air later this year and is based on Melissa de la Cruz’s bestselling novel of the same name. Story centers around a mother who must eventually admit to her two daughters that they are witches.

Maggie Friedman wrote the pilot, which was directed by Mark Waters. He and Erwin Stoff will exec produce. Co-stars include

Jenna Dewan-Tatum, Rachel Boston and Madchen Amick

Cabler recently gave a second-season order to “The Client List” and will likely launch Marc Cherry’s “Devious Maids” in the summer.

Still in pilot mode is “Cinnamon Girl,” from exec producer Rene Zellweger. Earlier this month Lifetime canceled “Drop Dead Diva.”
