New FX comedy “Legit” got off to a tough start Thursday night in its 10:30 p.m. timeslot, drawing an overall audience of only 650,000 and losing about 1 million viewers from lead-in “Archer.”
At 9 p.m., cabler returned a pair of “Anger Management episodes. The first garnered 1.8 million total viewers and 903,000 in the 18-49 demo while the second was only slightly off in total viewers (1.6 million), but up in the demo (994,000).
These represented the first of 90 episodes that FX will air as part of a distribution deal that is similar to many Tyler Perry sitcoms that air on TBS.
The 1.6 million overall viewers for the fourth season premiere of “Archer” was the second-most ever in series history. It set series records, however, in several demos, including men 18-34 and men 18-49.
Competition was tough Thursday. Not only was Fox airing the second night of “American Idol,” which attracted 16.2 million viewers, but OWN aired the much anticipated Lance Armstrong interviewed, which drew 4.3 million over two telecasts.
Next new series to debut for FX is drama “The Americans,” which bows Jan. 30. Skein stars Matthew Rhys and Keri Russell as a pair of Russian spies living near Washington, D.C., in the 1980s.
