Jason Momoa has been tapped to star in Sundance Channel’s latest scripted series “The Red Road (formerly titled “The Descendants”).

From Aaron Guzikowski and Sarah Condon, “The Red Road” centers on a sheriff struggling to keep his family together while policing two clashing communities: the small town where he grew up, and the neighboring Ramapo Mountains.

Momoa, whose credits include “Game of Thrones” and 2011’s “Conan the Barbarian,” will Copus, an ex con who returns to town.

Sundance Channel ordered six hourlong episodes of “Red Road” in March, making the drama the second wholly owned original scripted series at the cable net. (“Rectify,” which debuted earlier this year, was the first.)

“The Red Road” is exec produced by Guzikowski, Condon and Bridget Carpenter.
