Her Universe to Outfit Girls With ‘The Walking Dead’ Gear

Her Universe also producing apparel for fangirls of 'Star Wars,' 'Star Trek,' 'Doctor Who' and 'Course of the Force'

After locking down licenses to create girls apparel for fans of “Star Wars,” “Star Trek,” “Doctor Who” and Syfy channel, Ashley Eckstein’s Her Universe has now landed a deal with AMC’s “The Walking Dead.”

Her Universe will produce a new line of T-shirts, tops, leggings, hoodies and dresses, based on the characters, phrases and iconic imagery of the series.

The first products will be available at San Diego Comic-Con next week, as well as on HerUniverse.com and select retail outlets.

Eckstein believes studios and TV networks have long ignored women when it comes to producing products for them, and apparel and other items have also been lacking for shows like “The Walking Dead.”

“There is certainly an expanding fan base of women who faithfully watch ’The Walking Dead’ and this collection of unique apparel and merchandise is targeted just for them,” Eckstein said. “I am a huge fan of ’The Walking Dead’ and I was thrilled with the opportunity to design zombie fashion for fangirls. The story lines on this show are very emotional, compelling and addicting! As a fan, I am excited to have more apparel options made for women.”

Eckstein is also producing apparel for Nerdist Industries’ the Course of the Force, “Star Wars”-themed lightsaber relay, which kicks off today from George Lucas’ Skywalker Ranch, outside San Francisco and makes the trek to San Diego for Comic-Con to raise funds for the Make-a-Wish Foundation.

Her Universe launched with a line of fangirl-focused products tied to “Star Wars” in 2010. In addition to founding the company, Eckstein also voiced the character of Ahsoka Tano in the animated series “Star Wars: The Clone Wars.”
