Fox Developing Drama with ‘Back to the Future’ Writer Robert Zemeckis

'The Glades' creator to serve as scribe on family-focused drama

Fox has offered a put pilot to “Billy Ray,” a drama from Robert Zemeckis.

Project, produced by Compari Entertainment, is a character-driven drama about a family thrown into chaos. A child, who was stolen from the family as a baby, returns home 16 years later after being raised in rural Alabama by someone with a questionable past.

Clifton Campbell will pen the pilot and serve as exec producer on “Billy Ray.” Zemeckis (seen above) will exec produce and also direct the pilot.

Jack Rapke and Jackie Levine will also receive exec producer credits.

Zemeckis has not been involved in series television for over a decade, but has helmed feature films including “Flight” and “The Polar Express.” Campbell created “The Glades” for A&E, which the network cancelled in August.
