Evolution, Lionsgate pact on TV projects

Two entities would like to expand beyond 'Anger Management'

Evolution Entertainment and Lionsgate, which already team together on FX comedy “Anger Management,” have pacted on a new television deal.

“Anger Management,” which returns to the cabler Thursday with the initial output of the remaining 90-episode order, marked the first collaboration between Evolution and Lionsgate. Both entities expect several shows to come out of their new deal.

Evolution’s new found TV division will be run by senior VP Rachel Israel. She arrives at Evolution from Yellow Brick Road, where she was vice president of programming. Prior to that, Israel served as manager of comedy programming at NBC. She is joined by Meghan Mathes, who will serve as manager of development.

“Evolution embodies the kind of creative spirit and entrepreneurial acumen that define and drive the Lionsgate brand and we look forward to developing many more projects together,” said Lionsgate TV president Kevin Beggs.

Lionsgate and Evolution have often worked together on the film side, including seven “Saw” films.

Evolution Entertainment is run by principal Mark Burg, who is also Charlie Sheen’s manager, and president Michael Menchel.
