For the first time in Daytime Emmy history, submissions for the 41st Annual Daytime Emmy Awards will be accepted exclusively online, the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences announced on Wednesday.
The Academy is now accepting submissions in all 81 Daytime Emmy categories on the web using the services of Yangaroo. Judges will then stream entries and vote entirely online. Yangaroo has previously provided awards show services to the Grammys and MTV Video Awards.
“The industry has been asking for the convenience of online participation for some time,” said Daytime Emmy Awards senior exec director David Michaels.
The new online portal isn’t the only change that entrants and judges will notice leading up to the kudofest. NATAS is now offering an early deadline that offers entrants a lower fee if they submit by Dec. 20. The final deadline for entries is Jan. 17.
This year’s awards will also see the addition of new Spanish-language categories.
