John Oliver will be working with a familiar face as showrunner of his upcoming HBO series: “Daily Show with Jon Stewart” head writer Tim Carvell.

Carvell (pictured right) has joined the untitled show as exec producer and showrunner. Oliver cut a deal last month to host a topical weekly comedy series for HBO on Sunday nights starting next year.

Carvell has been with “Daily Show” for nearly a decade. He’s collected six Emmys during his tenure, which will end soon as he shifts focus to Oliver’s show.

Oliver, a longtime “Daily Show” correspondent, became a hot property as a solo host following his widely praised summer stint  on the anchor desk while Stewart took a hiatus to direct a feature film.

Carvell is repped by WME, Principato-Young and attorney Ira Schreck.
