In light of the devastation caused by storms in Oklahoma, CBS has hastily pulled tonight’s season finale of “Mike and Molly” because the storyline deals with a tornado descending on Chicago.

CBS confirmed Monday afternoon that it would pre-empt the episode, dubbed “Windy City,” which is the sitcom’s third season finale and ends with the titular characters confessing “important” news to each other. A repeat of the show will air instead.

The Oklahoma City area has been reeling from severe weather that ripped through the area starting Sunday, causing at least 37 deaths and dozens of injuries.

Local TV stations on Monday carried dramatic footage of destruction caused on Monday by what CBS News described as “massive, mile-wide tornado” that tore through the town of Moore, Okla.

“Due to the tragic events this afternoon in Oklahoma, we are pre-empting tonight’s season finale of ‘Mike & Molly,’ which has a related storyline,” CBS said in a statement. “A repeat broadcast of ‘Mike & Molly’ will run in the time period.  The season finale will be broadcast at an appropriate date.”
