CBS’ ‘Under the Dome’ Goes Out Strong; Fox’s ‘Sleepy Hollow’ Impresses in Debut

'Hollow' ranks as Fox's highest-rated fall drama premiere since 'Standoff' in 2006

CBS’ “Under the Dome” wrapped its summer run Monday with strong 10 p.m. turnout while Fox’s frosh “Sleepy Hollow” got off to a solid start in the 9 p.m. hour.

“Dome” concluded with 11.8 million viewers and 2.8 rating in adults 18-49, its highest demo score since July 29 and highest total viewer tally since its June 24 bow (13.5 million).

Sleepy Hollow” grabbed 10 million viewers with 3.5 rating/9 share — a marked improvement over the debut the same week last year of Fox’s short-lived “Mob Doctor” (5.1 million, 1.5/4 in 18-49). Fox noted that “Sleepy Hollow” marked its highest rated fall drama premiere since the police drama “Standoff” in 2006. The fantasy drama grew 55% in adults 18-49 from its “Bones” lead-in and had a strong turnout among female viewers, pulling a 3.8/9 in women 18-49.

Another good sign for “Sleepy Hollow” was that its demo score held fast at the half-hour point.

The ever-reliable “Bones” (2.2/7, 7.5 million) was right in line with its premiere rating from the comparable week last year.

ABC’s “Dancing With the Stars” improved on its September 2012 premiere numbers, when the show went up against NBC’s “The Voice.” This time around it got a one-week jump on NBC’s singing competition show and saw its demo average for the two-hour opener hit 3.2/9, compared to 2.5/7 last fall, and 16.2 million in total viewers, up from last year’s 14.1 million. (However, that number is likely to be a little inflated by a monster rating for an NFL game that aired on the Alphabet’s Cincinnati affiliate.)

NBC can’t wait for “The Voice” to return next week. The Peacock was a distant (very distant) fourth for the night behind its rivals with a weak showing from “Million Second Quiz” (1.1/3 in 18-49, 3.7 million) kicking off the night at 8 p.m.

Fox won the night overall in adults 18-49 with a 2.8/8. ABC led in total viewers with 13.4 million.

The rest of the pack in 18-49: (ABC: 2.6/7; CBS: 1.9/5; NBC: 1.2/3)

Total viewers: (Fox: 8.8 million; CBS: 7.2 million; NBC: 3.4 million)
