CBS orders drama pilot ‘Second Sight’

Project hails from Cuesta brothers, Carol Mendelsohn

CBS has picked up “Second Sight,” a drama pilot from brothers Michael and Gerald Cuesta.

Project from CBS TV Studios is based on Paula Milne’s British series of the same name about a homicide detective whose blindness becomes an advantage when he uses his heightened senses and intuition to solve crimes. (The Brit series starred Clive Owen.)

The Cuesta pair penned the pilot and will serve as exec producers along with Carol Mendelsohn, Julie Weitz, Nick Reed and Phil Goldfine. Michael Cuesta will helm the pilot, and Milne will also receive an exec producer credit.

The producing brothers worked together on 2001 feature “L.I.E.” Michael Cuesta has worked as a producer and director on “Homeland” and “Dexter.”

Over at ABC, multicam laffer “Divorce: A Love Story” was picked up to pilot.

From “Rules of Engagement’s” Mike Sikowitz and Daniel Lappin, comedy is based on Lappin’s Israeli format “Life Isn’t Everything” and follows a recently divorced couple who realizes they can’t stay out of each other’s lives.

Project was originally set at CBS when the Eye bought the adaptation in fall 2011.

Lappin and Sikowitz will exec produce with Noa Tishby. ABC Studios is producing “Love Story” with Israeli company Reshet and Sony Pictures TV, where Sikowitz has an overall deal.
