CBS greenlights Jim Gaffigan-Peter Tolan pilot

Order comes as pilot pickup chatter gains steam across multiple nets

As pilot pickup chatter gains steam at multiple networks, CBS has greenlit a single-camera laffer toplined by Jim Gaffigan from Sony Pictures TV.

Gaffigan penned the untitled half-hour with Peter Tolan. The pair are exec producers along with Michael Wimer, of Tolan’s Sony-based Fedora Entertainment, and Alex Murray.

Project is based on Gaffigan’s life as a happily married but harried father of five. A veteran standup, Gaffigan starred in a sitcom, “Welcome to New York,” that had a short run in the 2000-01 season.

Gaffigan project is one of six development prospects Tolan is juggling this year, with scripts also in the pipeline at Fox, NBC and HBO.

CBS has previously given greenlights to two other comedies so far, including one that will team David E. Kelley and Robin Williams.
