Reality TV and documentary filmmaking confab Westdoc selected “Tempest Storm: Burlesque Queen” as the winner of the $7,500 top prize at its PitchFest contest. The in-progress feature documentary produced by Kaitlyn Regehr (pictured at left) and produced and directed by Nimisha Mukerji (at right), follows the tumultuous life of the controversial entertainer.
The conference, founded by Chuck Braverman (at far left) and Richard Propper (at far right), featured 145 speakers Monday to Wednesday at the Landmark Theater in West Los Angeles. Audience members voted on 13 projects pitched to agents, network and development execs. The runner-up project was “Caregivers,” from producer Stephanie Howard, about family members who care for wounded veterans.
More than 500 people attended the conference, which also featured the West Coast premiere of docu “Unclaimed.”
