BSkyB nabs Alan Ball’s ‘Banshee’

Skein to bow on Sky Atlantic in May

LONDON — U.K. satcaster BSkyB has nabbed exclusive rights to new Alan Ball action show “Banshee.”

Skein will bow on Sky Atlantic in May as part of the paybox’s on-going deal with HBO, announced in July 2010.

The ten-part series will also be available on the Sky Go mobile platform.

“Banshee” is executive produced by Ball, whose credits include “True Blood,” “Six Feet Under” and “American Beauty.”

Show was created by Jonathan Tropper and David Schickler, and features Antony Starr as Lucas Hood, an ex-con who assumes the identity of the sheriff of Banshee, Pennsylvania.

There he continues his criminal activities, despite being hunted by the gangsters he betrayed years earlier.

The HBO-produced series for Cinemax also stars Ivana Milicevic as Carrie Hopewell, Hood’s former partner in crime.
