ABC Family orders series from Lopez, Polone

'The Fosters,' 'Twisted' headed for summer premieres

Projects from Jennifer Lopez and Gavin Polone have been picked up to series by ABC Family.

The Fosters,” exec produced by Lopez, and “Twisted,” exec produced by Polone, will go into production this spring with an eye toward summer premieres.

“These new shows will bring the same depth, heart, close relationships and authenticity that our viewers have come to expect and will pair nicely with our already established pop-culture hits,” said ABC Family prexy Michael Riley.

Bradley Bredeweg and Peter Paige (“Queer as Folk”) created and will also exec produce “The Fosters,” an hourlong drama about a family of foster and biological kids parented by two moms. Teri Polo, Sherri Saum, Jake T. Austin, Hayden Byerly, David Lambert, Maia Mitchell, Danny Nucci and Cierra Ramirez will star. Joanna Johnson (“Make It or Break It”), Simon Fields, Benny Medina and Greg Gugliotta are also exec producing.

David Babcock and Adam Milch join Polone in exec producing “Twisted,” centered on a 16-year-old with a troubled past who becomes the suspect in a fellow student’s death. Avan Jogia, Maddie Hasson, Kylie Bunbury, Kimberly Quinn, Sam Robards, Ashton Moio and Denise Richards will appear.

ABC Family said it plans to greenlight more series pickups later this month.
