Tony Gilroy Makes Smallscreen Debut with ‘Monsieur de Paris’

Gaumont Intl. TV produces and handles international sales on the show

In the run-up to Mipcom, Gaumont International Television, the L.A.-based production and distribution studio of the French studio, has come on board to produce “Monsieur de Paris,” which will be directed by Tony Gilroy (“The Bourne Series”).

Skein project marks Tony Gilroy’s first venture into TV. It’s penned and created by Tony Gilroy and Dan Gilroy, who are also serving as exec producer.

“We’ve waited a long time to find the right moment, the right idea, and the right place to have a long-form adventure,” commented Tony Gilroy. “Everyone knows the most imaginative, electric storytelling is happening on the second screen these days and we’re terribly excited about being part of it.

Set in Paris, in 1931, the series tells the tale of an official executioner of France (keeper of the guillotine), who is also a husband and family man.

GIT’s roaster include “Hannibal” and “Hemlock Grove.”
