She will report directly to Bob Bakish, prexy and chief exec of VIMN, and will remain based in London.
Taylor will take the lead in deciding how the MTV brand is positioned and presented, as well as in developing original programs and identifying acquisitions.
Taylor will also continue in her current role as senior VP and general manager of MTV for VIMN UK, reporting to David Lynn, exec VP and managing director of all VIMN operations in the U.K., Australia, Russia and Hungary.
Since 2011, Taylor has managed the evolution of the core MTV channel in the U.K. to offer a mix of music and general entertainment programming, while expanding MTV’s portfolio of music channels through the launch of MTV Music and MTV Live HD.
The growth of MTV in the U.K. has been driven by increased investment in local productions, including reality series “Geordie Shore” and “The Valleys.” “Geordie Shore,” which returns for a sixth season in July, is the highest rated show in MTV U.K.’s history and has attracted more than 7 million Twitter followers.
The core MTV channel has grown its average audience in the U.K. between 2010 and June 2013 by 81% among all adults, and by 65% among 16-34s. MTV U.K. was named Entertainment Channel of the Year at the Broadcast Digital Awards in 2012.
