The Intl. Emmy Awards will fete Anke Schaeferkordt, CEO of commercial broadcaster RTL in Germany and co-CEO of RTL Group, Europe’s top TV network.

Schaeferkordt will receive the Intl. Emmy Directorate Award at the 41st Int. Emmy Awards Gala on Nov. 25 in New York City.

It is one of two special awards handed out at the gala, which will also feature the Founders Award presented to J.J. Abrams, as previously announced.

“Anke Schaeferkordt has been a driving force behind RTL’s growth — both in Germany, Europe’s largest and most competitive television market, and since 2012 across the group’s worldwide operations. Her passion for programming, combined with a long-view strategic approach, make her an outstanding leader in the international TV industry,” said Bruce L. Paisner, prexy and CEO of the Intl. Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.

Schaeferkordt joined RTL in 1991, rising through the ranks to become CEO of RTL Television as well as CEO of the Mediengruppe RTL Deutschland in 2005. Since April 2012, she has been co-CEO of RTL Group. In this capacity, she still retains her role as CEO of Mediengruppe RTL Deutschland and also sits on the executive board of Bertelsmann, RTL Group’s majority shareholder.

Schaeferkordt said: “We are transforming our business into the digital world while keeping our focus on the core of what we do: producing the best content to entertain and inform our audiences.”
