DMG Brings CCTV Drama to Seattle

Washington FilmWorks on board tale of overseas Chinese

HONG KONG – DMG Entertainment, the Chinese production company behind “Iron Man 3” and “Looper,” is to shoot a shoot a new Chinese-language drama show in Seattle, Washington.

The currently untitled show will be developed and produced by DMG and Washington FilmWorks and broadcast on state-run China Central Television (CCTV).

A memorandum was signed between DMG-Washington FilmWorks by Bellevue, Washington mayor Conrad Lee and representative of Washington Governor Jay Inslee.

The show has been announced by CCTV on its slate of 2014 programs, but details are currently being developed. It is expected to be a scripted drama, with episodes possibly of one hour each, following the lives and loves of a group of Chinese nationals as they leap through the hurdles of modern American life.

“The support from Washington FilmWorks and Governor Inslee’s office has been great and is a clear indication of the future of this collaboration,” said Dan Mintz, CEO and co-founder of DMG Entertainment. “The Seattle area boasts a highly diverse cultural make-up and that includes a lot of Chinese and Asian communities, which makes it a perfect place to set the show.”

This year’s hit Chinese movie “Finding Mr Right” by Xue Xiaolu was largely set in the Seattle area.

“China represents a major trading partner for a wide range of Washington State industries; the agreements signed today with Chinese film and technology companies, like DMG, will be the foundation of our shared economic success,” said Inslee.

Washington FilmWorks is a legislatively commissioned non-profit organization that manages the Washington state film incentive programs and encourages growth of the film and video production industry in the state.
