The Host” doesn’t fall far from “The Twilight Saga” tree. At the March 27 Gotham preem of Open Road’s “The Host,” young talent noted similar themes between the two Stephenie Meyer works. And Meyer herself claimed that the idea of free will is the common thread.

“In ‘Twilight Saga,’ the vampires have chosen to live a certain way. In ‘The Host,’ there’s an alien who turns away from her kind because she’s developed a strong love for human survivors,” Meyer said at the Tribeca Grand Hotel.

“Both films are romance epics,” said pic’s Diane Kruger.

“Just like ‘Twilight Saga,’ ‘The Host’ deals with love and has a lot of complication,” said Saoirse Ronan.

Guests at Jimmy at the James Hotel afterparty included Gabourey Sidibe and her “Precious” scribe Geoffrey Fletcher.

“There are supernatural elements as well as strong female characters in both films,” said Fletcher, who makes his directorial debut in the upcoming “Violet & Daisy,” which stars Ronan.

Sidibe kept it very simple, noting, “Both are based on young adult novels and have a huge following.”
