On May 8, Kyra Sedgwick, Dennis Haysbert and Christopher Reid gathered to honor Gabourey Sidibe at the 90th anniversary celebration of L.A.’s youth club Woodcraft Rangers.

But the real stars at LA Plaza were the kids themselves. After the Woodcrest Elementary Rappers performed, Sidibe gushed, “I’m sorry I’m nervous. I’m so jealous of those kids and their talents. I didn’t have any after-school programs, I had no one to look up to. Adults would just tell me that if I didn’t lose weight no one would hire me in an office.”

Reid was also inspired by the kids’ perf. “Who knew rapping could get white people excited?” he quipped.
