Jeanne Newman, Dante Di Loreto Bring Direct Relief to Santa Monica

Newly off a renovation of their Santa Monica manse, Hansen Jacobson partner Jeanne Newman and 20th Century Fox TV’s Gary Newman played host to an evening of gourmet entrees and wine pairings imported from restaurants and vineyards local to Santa Barbara.

The June 5 dinner, spearheaded by Jeanne Newman and producer Dante Di Loreto (pictured above), supported Direct Relief, a nonprofit devoted, in part, to providing training and materials to midwives in third-world countries.

“Let’s be honest, the real reason I’m here is Jeanne’s my lawyer and Gary’s my boss,” joked the evening’s host, Alex Borstein, who also suggested the work on their house was underwritten by her acting on the toon “Family Guy.”

Guests included Dana Walden, Rumer Willis and Rachael MacFarlane, who performed an interesting duet with Borstein about the joys of being new mothers sung to the tune of “Someone Like You” by Adele.

Dante Di Loreto, still enjoying praise for a pair of HBO deals that closed earlier this year, heavily promoted the evening’s live auction and pressured “The New Normal” alum Jayson Blair to auction off a date with the thesp that went for $3,000. All said, the evening netted more than $150,000 for the org.
