Style Awards Honor Fashion and Entertainment Insiders

Nicole Richie hosts; Kate Upton raves, 'I've got the best job in the world'

On the eve of New York Fashion Week, the elite of both the fashion and entertainment industries gathered inside Lincoln Center’s exclusive Mercedes Benz tents for the 10th annual Style Awards.

Sony Pictures Classics’ co-topper Tom Bernard along with Vogue’s Andre Leon Talley and tennis champ Maria Sharapova were in attendance Sept. 4 to celebrate the night’s 10 honorees. Each recipient, including Rachel Zoe, Victor Cruz, Zac Posen, TV and film costume designers Janie Bryant and Trish Summerville as well as Kate Upton were honored for their significant contributions to the fashion industry.

“I have the best job in the world,” said Upton said after receiving her kudo from Christie Brinkley. “I’m only 21 years old and I’ve been to all seven continents … in a bikini! All seven!”

Nicole Richie hosted the kudofest, which will air Sept. 14th on CNN.

After honoree Patrick Demarchelier delivered a four-word acceptance speech, Sharapova blocked the French photog from returning to his seat and then introduced a surprise video message from fashion’s queen bee, Anna Wintour.

“I remember when we first met in Paris in the ’70s and I was a really junior editor,” Wintour said. ” I was totally in awe of you and your photography just as I am today. I was also, to be totally honest with you, unsure or what you were saying. I’ve always felt really bad about that until a French editor told me, ‘It’s ok. I’m French and I don’t understand a word he says either.'”
