TV One has renewed “R&B Divas” for a second season, adding a Los Angeles spin-off to the franchise.

“R&B Divas” follows chantoosies Faith Evans, Nicci Gilbert-Daniels, Monifah Carter, Syleena Johnson and Keke Wyatt as they work on producing a compilation album. Unscripted skein proved to be one of the strongest performing series for TV One, averaging 426,000 homes during the first season for the niche cable net.

Cabler ordered eight episodes of “Divas” in the renewal, and will debut season two in spring.

TV One also ordered eight episodes of “R&B Divas: LA,” slating the spin-off for third quarter. It will feature five Los Angeles-based R&B performers, who have yet to be named.

“‘R&B Divas’ has definitely struck a positive chord with viewers,” said Toni Judkins, executive vice president of programming and production for TV One. “Week-after-week, the series continued to build on its audience and we’re thrilled to provide another season and a new franchise of a dynamic program that is clearly resonating with audiences.”

“R&B Divas” is produced by ThinkFactory Media. Adam Reed, Adam Freeman and Leslie Greif serve as executive producers for ThinkFactory. Phil Thornton and Paul Coy Allen also exec produce.
