John Davis’ Davis Entertainment has signed a first-look agreement with Entangled Publishing, the boutique ebook publisher that has cranked out several national bestsellers including 2012’s No. 6 title “The Marriage Bargain.”
Under the arrangement, Davis Entertainment gets an exclusive first look at all the titles coming out of Entangled, which houses more than 350 authors and releases about 30 books per month through its various imprints, including Entangled Select, Entangled Teen and romance imprint Indulgence. The latter imprint has created seven bestselling titles since launching last February, including “The Marriage Bargain,” which spent 28 weeks on the New York Times’ bestseller list.
While not as explicitly steamy as E.L. James’ S&M-laced “Fifty Shades of Grey,” which Universal bought this year for Focus to develop, “Bargain” falls squarely in the contemporary romance genre: Story follows a bookstore owner who gets involved with a billionaire who doesn’t believe in marriage but needs a wife in order to inherit his father’s corporation.

Liz Pelletier, owner and publisher of Entangled, will oversee the deal with Davis, which has a long-standing partnership with 20th Century Fox.
