Philip J. Smith, the chairman and co-chief exec of Broadway’s Shubert Organization, is set to be honored at the Theater Development Fund’s annual gala in a shindig that will include Bernadette Peters and host Douglas Carter Beane.

As one of the heads of the Shubert Org., which owns or operates 17 Broadway theaters, Smith is a well-liked industry veteran who is generally acknowledged as one of the most powerful figures on the Rialto.

TDF’s March 4 event will include perfs by Peters, Zoe Caldwell and the cast of the latest incarnation of long-running Main Stem spoof “Forbidden Broadway.”

Gala, to be held at the Edison Ballroom in midtown Manhattan, will raise funds to support the activities of TDF, the nonprofit audience development and education org whose programs include the well-known TKTS booth, which sells discount tickets to Main Stem fare.
