Jean Doumanian Taps New Director of Creative Development for Theater

Former Disney Theatrical staffer Preston Copley joins New York-based production shingle with a focus on its legit output

New York-based film, theater and TV production company Jean Doumanian Prods. has snagged former Disney Theatrical Prods. staffer Preston Copley to be the company’s new director of creative development for theater.

Working with Doumanian and company VP Patrick Daly, Copley will be tasked with developing new legit content and identifying existing stage properties with commercial potential on Broadway, Off Broadway or abroad.

Doumanian was one of the producers of Tony-winning play “August: Osage County,” and also is one of the producers behind the film adaptation currently making the rounds of the awards-season circuit. Doumanian and her eponymous production company have also been on board Broadway productions including “The Mountaintop” and “Superior Donuts” as well as Off Broadway outings “Our Town,” “Cock” and “Tribes.” London credits include the recent West End run of  “Chimerica.” 

Copley spent the last three years working for Thomas Schumacher at Disney Theatrical Prods., and also has worked at the Stage Directors and Choreographers Society, the legit union for helmers and choreographers. He’s already stepped into his post at JDP.
