‘Dead Man’ Shoot Had Its Difficulties

Niels Arden Oplev's pic premieres in Hollywood

Colin Farrell and Noomi Rapace

Niels Arden Oplev admitted at the Feb. 26 preem of FilmDistrict’s “Dead Man Down” that it was a difficult shoot — and for an obvious reason.

“I’m not American, but I felt like I came home from ’Nam when I was finished with this film … but I think we won ultimately,” the Danish helmer said of his first U.S. pic, about an unlikely duo, played by Colin Farrell and Noomi Rapace, who seek revenge against a crime lord, played by Terrence Howard.

Despite the overarching revenge theme, Rapace said the actors were able to keep things light on set. “Colin and I are both very focused and very passionate, but we can still have a laugh once in a while and get back at it,” she said at the Arclight preem in Hollywood.

When asked if there was anyone in Hollywood he would seek vengeance against, Farrell deadpanned, “I might have to go home and make a list.”
