Disney plans to pull back the curtain on its Imagineers with a feature-length documentary that explores the history of the division behind the designs of its theme park rides and other attractions.

Leslie Iwerks, the daughter of Don Iwerks, a former Disney animator and Imagineer, and granddaughter of Ub Iwerks, co-creator of Mickey Mouse and Oswalt the Lucky Rabbit, is directing the project. She has previously helmed the documentaries “The Pixar Story,” released in 2007, and “Industrial Light & Magic: Creating the Impossible,” and “Recycled Life,” a documentary short that was nominated for an Academy Award.

Disney plans on releasing the film in 2016, after its new theme park in Shanghai, China has opened.

Walt Disney Parks and Resorts chairman Tom Staggs introduced a trailer for the film at D23 Expo, Disney’s version of Comic-Con.
