Universal Pictures has optioned “Unicorn Executions” with Scott Stuber set to produce.

This was a heated bidding war with New Line and Brad Pitt’s Plan B chasing the project.

Rawson Thurber will direct and Simon Rich will adapt.

“Unicorn Executions and Other Crazy Stuff My Kids Make Me Draw” is collection of quirky drawings that Pulitzer-Prize winning illustrator Steve Breen drew for his children.

Stuber will produce through Bluegrass Films and Nick Nesbitt, who brought the project to Bluegrass, will oversee for Bluegrass.

Senior VP of production Erik Baiers and Sara Scott will oversee for Uni.

CAA had been packaging this project for sometime with writers and producers having to make unusual pitches for what the film would look like since the book has no story.
