Dean Devlin’s Electric Entertainment is ramping up, bringing on veteran exec Ari Haas (pictured above) as VP of acquisitions and development in the wake of backing “The Wannabe.”

Haas will work with Electric’s recently appointed head of international distribution Sonia Mehandjiyska in acquiring projects for the company’s distribution slate.

The deal was announced at the Toronto Film Festival.

Haas was previously director of production and acquisitions for Myriad Pictures and worked on “Margin Call,” “Goon,” “The English Teacher” and “The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby: Him and Her,” starring Jessica Chastain and James McAvoy, which premieres at Toronto.

Electric recently came on board to fully finance “The Wannabe” with Martin Scorsese exec producing. It has also unveiled an international theatrical film and TV sales and acquisitions division with “The Wannabe” as its first project.
