Viva Pictures has acquired all U.S. rights to “Top Cat: The Movie” and plans a theatrical release this summer, followed by VOD, digital and home entertainment launches.
Based on the 1960s Hanna-Barbera toon character of the same name, “Top Cat: The Movie” includes the voices of Jason Harris, Chris Edgerly and Bill Lobley. Story focuses on the talking cats dealing with a robot police force.
The animated film is a production of Mexico-based Anima Estudios, directed by Alberto Mar and produced by Fernando de Fuentes S. and Jose C. Garcia de Letona. It’s been released in Mexico as “Don Gato y su Pandilla.”
“Top Cat” aired as a primetime animated television series on ABC in the early 1960s and was recognized as a parody of “The Phil Silvers Show.”
