Sony Dates Dan Brown’s ‘Inferno’ For December 18, 2015

David Koepp is set to pen adaptation

The huge slate of franchises skedded for 2015 continues to grow as Sony has now dated “Inferno,” the adaptation of Dan Brown’s latest Robert Langdon book for Dec. 18, 2015.

The book was released in May, and like the previous books featuring the character,  “Da Vinci Code” and “Angels & Demons,” will follow symbologist Langdon as he tries to solve a mystery behind a famous piece of art or literature — in this case, “Dante’s Inferno.”

David Koepp is penning the script and Tom Hanks is expected to return as Langdon. Ron Howard is also attached to return as director.

It appears that Brown’s last Langdon book “The Lost Symbol” will not be the next to be adapted into a movie.

The previous installments have grossed more than $1.2 billion at the worldwide box office
