Sony Acquires Feature Rights to David Baldacci’s ‘The Finisher’

Book will be published in March 2014

Sony has acquired feature rights to bestselling author David Baldacci’s fantasy novel, “The Finisher,” with Matt Tolmach set to produce the project.

“Finisher” tells the story of a 14-year-old girl who, after the disappearance of her close friend, sets out to discover the truth about her small mysterious village home and what lies beyond. Tome will hit bookshelves March 2014.

Columbia Pictures production prexy Hannah Minghella negotiated the deal, along with Col production veep Lauren Abrahams, lit agent Aaron Priest and Lucy Stille of Paradigm.

Baldacci’s books, which include “Absolute Power,” “The Camel Club” and “The Innocent,” have sold more than 110 million copies worldwide.

Columbia’s New York-based book scout, Mark James, first brought “The Finisher” to Sony. Kate Checchi will oversee the project for Tolmach.
