Ruth Wilson lands lead in ‘Tombstones’

'Luther' actress joins Liam Neeson in Scott Frank pic

After a string of Disney pics, “Luther” actress Ruth Wilson is ready to return to darker material, landing the female lead in “A Walk Among the Tombstones,” starring Liam Neeson.

The pic also stars Dan Stevens and will be directed by Scott Frank.

Frank adapted the pic from the Lawrence Block tome, which follows an ex-NYPD officer, played by Neeson, who is now serving as a private investigator who is hired to find the kidnapped wife of a drug dealer. He soon finds out the perpetrators have done this before, resulting in several murders.

Details of Wilson’s role in the film are unknown.

Cross Creek Pictures and Exclusive Media will co-finance and produce, with Universal distributing domestically.

Best known for playing the evil Alice Morgan on the BBC skein “Luther,” Wilson has recently moved onto lighter material, landing lead roles in Disney’s “Lone Ranger” and “Saving Mr. Banks.” She was last seen in Focus’ “Anna Karenina.”
