Roadside Attractions has acquired U.S. distribution rights to helmer Ronald Krauss’ drama “Gimme Shelter,” starring Vanessa Hudgens, Brendan Fraser and Rosario Dawson. The distrib has set a Jan. 24 Stateside release.
“Gimme Shelter,” which premieres next month at the Heartland Film Festival, tells the true story of a pregnant runaway teen, played by Hudgens, who finds help and salvation in a suburban shelter for teens. Krauss also wrote and produced the film.
“We were moved by Ronald’s film,” said Roadside co-prexy Howard Cohen. “He poured his heart and soul into ‘Gimme Shelter,’ and we were quite impressed with Vanessa Hudgens, who delivered a terrific, and transformative, performance.”
Krauss’ Day 28 Films banner produced the film, along with Jeff Rice and co-producer Joshua Amir.
Cohen and attorney Greg Bernstein negotiated the deal on behalf of Roadside, along with Ron Krauss and attorney Matt Galsor on behalf of the filmmakers.
