Relativity locks up ‘Loomis Fargo’

Closes deal for worldwide rights to Jim Carrey heist pic

Relativity Media has closed its deal to finance and distribute the Jim Carrey action-comedy “Loomis Fargo,” which Jared Hess (“Napoleon Dynamite”) will direct.

Production is slated to begin in April in North Carolina. Variety first reported in mid-October that Relativity was in talks for worldwide rights to the project, which was originally in development at Paramount.

Pic is based on the true story of four dim-witted Southerners who pulled off one of the biggest heists in American history, robbing $17 million from a Loomis Fargo armored truck. Carrey will play Dave Ghantt, a military vet and night guard at the armored car company who leads the heist.

Carrey is is repped by WME, Mosaic and attorney Deborah Klein.
