Oscars: Chile Picks ‘Gloria’ for Foreign-Language Race

Nation seeks another nomination after 'No'

Gloria” will be Chile’s submission to the foreign-language film race at the upcoming Academy Awards.

The Sebastian Lelio film, starring Paulina Garcia and written by Lelio and Gonzalo Maza, tells the story of a divorced woman in her late 50s who aims to recapture her life.  In a February review, Variety called it “pitch-perfect (and) terrifically written.”

Chile is aiming to return to the nominations after earning a spot with Pablo Larrain’s “No” at the most recent Oscars.
