Pic is based on the Electronic Arts video game franchise and follows an underground racecar driver (Paul) who owns a garage that modifies expensive cars to make them faster for racing. Framed and sent to prison when his best friend is murdered during a race, he seeks revenge upon his release.
The Feb. 7, 2014, date remains occupied by Warner Bros.’ animated “Lego” movie and by Sony/MGM’s reboot of “RoboCop.” “Need for Speed” is the only title dated for March 14, 2014.
