The National Assn. of Theater Owners announced Tuesday the election of new board members to two-year terms, including Amy Miles, CEO of Regal Entertainment, who was elected as vice chair.

S. David Passman III, president and CEO of Carmike, was re-elected as chairman, with Foothills Entertainment chief Byron Berkley staying on as treasurer. George Solomon, CEO of Southern Theaters, joins the board as secretary.

“NATO is only as strong as its volunteer leaders and we are fortunate to have the dedicated service of the most talented people in our industry,” said NATO CEO and prexy John Fithian.

The NATO board is comprised of 17 leaders in the domestic exhibition industry, who ultimately elect the board’s four volunteer officers.

Despite the government shutdown, which began last week, NATO members met with key legislators and their staffs to discuss exhibitor issues, ranging from the implementation of new health care regulations to access for disabled patrons, the enforcement of the voluntary ratings system, and rules regarding upcoming laser projectors.
