‘Mama’ Director Eyes ‘Mummy’ Reboot at Universal

Andy Muschietti in talks to direct the film

Mama” director Andres (Andy) Muschietti is in negotiations to direct “The Mummyreboot at Universal.

Muschietti would replace Len Wiseman, who had to leave the project due to commitments with his TV show “Sleepy Hollow.”

Sean Daniel, Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci are producing.

Jon Spaihts wrote the script and the studio still sees the film as a top priority, given the popularity of the previous franchise, which starred Brendan Fraser.

Mama” was a big over-performer at the B.O., bringing in more than $100 million worldwide after only costing $15 million to make.

Muschietti is repped by Resolution.
