Jennifer Connelly, Anthony Mackie Starring in Paul Bettany’s ‘Shelter’

Indie drama to be shot in New York City

Paul Bettany has cast his wife, Jennifer Connelly, and “Hurt Locker’s” Anthony Mackie in his directing debut, indie feature “Shelter.”

Daniel Wagner of BiFrost Pictures is financing and producing. Bettany also wrote the script, the plot of which is being kept under wraps.

Robert Ogden Barnum, Katie Mustard and Bettany are also producing. Cassian Elwes, Aimee Sheih, Melanie Greene, Dana Brown and Clay Floren are exec producers.

Shooting will start later this year in Manhattan and the surrounding boroughs.

UTA and Elwes are repping domestic rights. Voltage Pictures is representing international rights and will be introducing the title at the Toronto Intl. Film Festival.

Bettany recently completed acting in “Transcendence” and Connelly recently starred in “Stuck in Love,” opposite Greg Kinnear. Mackie most recently appeared in Michael Bay’s “Pain & Gain” and will next appear in  the thriller “Runner, Runner.”

BiFrost Pictures’ slate includes “The Girl Who Conned the Ivy League,” starring Amanda Seyfried, and the recently completed “The World Made Straight.”
