Image Entertainment has acquired all U.S. and Canadian rights to Nick Murphy’s thriller “Blood” from IM Global’s Octane  genre division.

The film stars Paul Bettany, Mark Strong, Brian Cox and Stephan Graham. Producers are Pippa Harris and the BBC with  Sam Mendes exec producing.

“Blood,” which premiered in October at the London Film Festival, charts the moral collapse of a close police family. Two brothers, both cops, are smothered by the shadow of their former police chief father.

Charles Gant gave “Blood” a mixed review for Variety: “A quartet of justly regarded British actors elevates Nick Murphy’s sophomore feature “Blood,” but only to the level of superior TV fare. World-preeming at the London Film Festival, this quality crimer lacks the pulse-racing peril that might seal the deal with thriller aficionados, and the title turns out to be more about the family ties that bind than rivulets of red.”

The deal was negotiated by Bill Bromiley, Mark Ward and Michael Bayer on behalf of Image Entertainment, IM Global’s  Jonathan Deckter and Lauren Wilson on behalf of IM Global.
