“Milk” director Gus Van Sant has come on board crime drama “The McKennas” as an executive producer.
Union Entertainment Group is producing and co-financing “The McKennas,” slated for production in early 2014 in New York City. Gary Lennon, supervising producer and writer of Netflix series “Orange Is the New Black,” is producing and directing from his own script.
Noah C. Haeussner and Anil Baral are also producing with Michael Raimondi co-exec producing.
“The McKennas” centers on a matriarch who, after her husband’s death, joins her three sons in the fight to keep their New York City crime business and family from falling apart. Producers are casting for the leads.
Van Sant also directed “Good Will Hunting” and last year’s “Promised Land,” both starring Matt Damon.
UEG co-financed “Hateship Loveship,” premiering at the Toronto Intl. Film Festival, and is in pre-production on “Asthma” with Jake Hoffman directing.
