Focus Fatures has acquired U.S. and Latin American rights to Jean-Marc Vallee’s indie drama “Dallas Buyers Club,” starring Matthew McConaughey, Jared Leto and Jennifer Garner.
Focus plans to release “Dallas” in the second half of this year.
Story centers on a man (McConaughey) who contracts AIDS in 1986 and survives six years by illegally smuggling medicine into the U.S. Craig Borten and Melisa Wallack penned the script.
“Dallas,” from A Truth Entertainment, is produced by Robbie Brenner and Rachel Winter. Exec producers are Truth Entertainment’s Tony Notargiacomo and Joe Newcomb along with Nicholas Chartier, Cassian Elwes, Logan Levy, Nathan Ross and Holly Wiersma.
CAA, which packaged and arranged financing for the project, brokered the deal with Focus.
