‘Evil Dead’ Director Eyes ‘Dante’s Inferno’ Adaptation at Universal

Fede Alvarez is in talks to helm pic based on video game

Evil Dead” helmer Fede Alvarez is in talks to direct “Dante’s Inferno” for Universal.

Pic would be based on the Electronic Arts video game that follows a knight who, with the help of a poet, ventures into the nine rings of hell to rescue his lover.

Eric Newman and Marc Abraham will produce alongside EA Entertainment Vice President Patrick O’Brien. Jay Basu is penning the script with Bruce McKenna writing the first draft.

Universal’s VP of production Anikah McLaren and creative exec Sara Scott will oversee the project for the studio.

Alvarez is repped by CAA, Anonymous Content and attorney Karl Austen. EA is repped by UTA.
