Eva Green cast in ‘Sin City’ sequel

Mickey Rourke, Bruce Willis also cast in Robert Rodriguez adaptation

Dimension Films has tapped Bond girl Eva Green to star as deadly muse Ava Lord in Robert Rodriguez’s and Frank Miller’s “Sin City: A Dame to Kill For.”

Miller described the character as “every man’s most glorious dreams come true, she’s also every man’s darkest nightmares” in a release announcing the casting on Tuesday.

Green rounds out a cast which includes Mickey Rourke, Jessica Alba, Bruce Willis, Rosario Dawson and Jaime King, who also starred in the original “Sin City.” New cast members include Josh Brolin, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Dennis Haysbert and Christopher Meloni.

Production on the sequal, based on Miller’s graphic novel, is already underway. Miller also penned the script.

Rodriguez’s Quick Draw Productions produced, along with Aldamisa, AR Films, Miramax and Solipsist, with Aldamisa handling international sales. Dimension will release the pic on Oct. 4.

“We’ve been wanting to tell this story for a very long time. Ava Lord is one of the most deadly and fascinating residents of Sin City,” Rodriguez and Miller stated jointly. From the start, we knew that the actor would need to be able to embody the multifaceted characteristics of this femme fatale and we found that in Eva Green. We are ecstatic that Eva is joining us.”

But he’s also playing a breathless teenage kid on the inside, and [...]

    Film Review: 'The Dirt'

A long time ago, the words sex, drugs, and rock ‘n’ roll carried a hint of danger. The lifestyle did, too, but I’m talking about the phrase. It used to sound cool (back around the time the word “cool” sounded cool). But sex, drugs, and rock ‘n’ roll has long since passed into the realm [...]

New Trend in Concert Halls: Original Music by Movie Composers — No Film Required

Movie and TV composers are in greater demand than ever for, surprisingly, new music for the concert hall. For decades, concert commissions for film composers were few and far between.
