Dustin Hoffman Boards Jon Favreau’s ‘Chef’

Actor Joins cast that includes Robert Downey Jr. and Scarlett Johansson

Dustin Hoffman has joined the ensemble of the Jon Favreau comedy “Chef.”

He joins a cast that already includes Robert Downey Jr., Sofia Vergara, John Leguizamo, Scarlett Johansson and Bobby Cannavale. Favreau also stars and will direct.

Story is based on an original idea and screenplay by Favreau. Karen Gilchrist and Aldamisa co-chairman Sergei Bespalov will produce, while Aldamisa and Mark Manuel’s Kilburn Media will finance.

Story follows a man who loses his chef job and starts up a food truck to reclaim his artistic promise and estranged family at the same time. Open Road Films will distribute.

Favreau broke the news by tweeting a Vine video labeled “new castmembers” that featured Hoffman.

The WME-repped Hoffman recently directed the pic “Quartet.”
